Extension of steel's service life is directly related to removing impurities which may be invisible to the naked eye. This also ensures the zinc film thickness and corrosion category.

In fact, sand was only used for sand-blasting long time ago. Today, technology is much more sophisticated - and not limited to sand.

Grit blasting, or abrasive blast cleaning, is essentially a method for preparing the surface for the subsequent surface treatment ensuring optimum adherence but also the correct corrosion category.

As an all-round supplier of surface treatment, blasting and shot blasting are crucial to DOT's preparation process. Mechanical cleaning of the steel surface is critical to surface treatments as a thoroughly cleaned surface binds better to hot-dip galvanizing, paint and other corrosion protecting surface treatments. Thorough preparations will always prove worth the while in the long run.

DOT provides several types of cleaning of metal, shot blasting and surface treatments of iron and steel. Shot blasting is carried out by small metal balls rushing about inside a wheelabrator through which the item to be cleaned passes. Blasting may be preferable given the size of the item, a finer roughness or mobile blasting of inaccessible recesses. Grit blasting may be used for an item because it provides the desired roughness for metallization. The surface is then inspected visually to ensure quality. Finally, purity and roughness are checked by means of a comparator.

However, a perfectly cleaned surface is a fundamental requirement when the service life of the finished surface depends on a solid basis. As a full-service partner, DOT takes charge of the entire surface treatment process which ensures a uniform quality through every phase and the best finished product.

Surface treatment must be seen as a whole to make sense from a financial as well as a time perspective. An overall process accelerates production and ensures the quality and deadline of the delivery.

DOT has for years rationalised the production line to ensure that it is geared for the job flow demanded by our customers. As a result, we have the best production capacity and security of supply for the industry. This gives you, the customer, peace of mind as DOT is your guarantee for reliable and professional workmanship. Without any delays between suppliers and with on-time deliveries.

DOT offers shot blasting of the following measurements: 1500 mm x 1000 mm (max. length is 15 m).

DOT offers air-blowing of the following dimensions:

  • 17000 mm (lenght)
  • 5000 mm (width)
  • 5000 mm (height)

A smoothed, flawless surface is an art in itself which relies on professional conditions. It is the first important step of the item's journey towards the finished result.

DOT offers cleaning of all types of surfaces in the industry, including Garnet or steel grit blasting or shot blasting with steel balls. Depending on the customer's need and specified requirements, the items will be cleaned to the desired roughness which is the best for the subsequent surface treatment, such as metallization or hot-dip galvanizing. The roughness will be checked carefully before the subsequent treatment is initiated to achieve the best result.

DOT cleans according to all customer specifications, typically from roughnesses SA1 to SA3.
